Define "nothing".

Does it refuse to open the tray? Does it not spin up the CD? Does it not recognize there's a CD in the drive? Does it spin constantly and freeze the computer while it tries to read the drive? Does it recognize there's a CD in the drive but just spits out an error when you try to access it?

hmm... *brings up menu and clicks multipalyer. says to insert disk one. open CD drive, and Cd one is in the drive! clicks multi player again, same message.*
*goes to my computer, and looks at drive E, (My disk drive) lo and behold, it says nothing is inserted.*
I've tried other disks, nothing!

check to see if the data cables (the wide, flat ribbon shaped things) are still connected.

In case this happens again in the future, I'm sure there are No-CD cracks out there, and in your case, they'd be legal since you still own the CD.

Exonerate is referring to programs which alter other programs (mostly games) to disable the check they perform to make sure that the CD is in the drive.

There may be dust in the drive. If you have canned air (like this), try blowing dust out of the drive.

The drive could be dead, as evidenced by it working intermittantly in the past. Even if it isn't necessarily dead, this sounds like a good opportunity to upgrade.

For about $40 you can have a reputable, reliable DVD burner (link), or if you're feeling like a complete and total cheap-ass, you can get just a non-burner drive for as low as $19. (link)

If it's a new computer, then you should be able to get a replacement drive via the warranty.
