Mage's limitations on spellcasting are due to their own ability, not knowing the spell (they can read any spell from a scroll but an apprentice trying to cast time stop will be lucky to be brain dead after it).

Hmm, the dwarves might be able to replicate it, since steam power is known as is black-powder (which is quite similiar to gunpowder), do you mean a WC style steam tank or a modern tank such as an Abrahams? (Whose computer tech the dwarves could not replicate nor could they keep it supplied).

Do you mean covering all of the dales in ash, thus destroying their crops?
That would make quite a difference since it would quite possibly casue a famine, especially after the damage caused by the Shades caused flooding and crops destroyed by dragons under the rage.
It might even weaken them enough for the Zent's to attempt another invasion or for some of the more militaristic groups (Battledale, featherdale) to annex some of the smaller dales that are focused on crop exports.

actually death, here it's just a hammer, if brought over there it becomes a super maul of the titans, with the nasty tendancy to consume your con points and slowly turn your body to stone and steel....

I can't recall who you destroy it either....

but in the old d&d manuals (not ad&d) it was listed as one of the artifacts.

Drow magic works on the surface since 'Windwalker'. Drow do not burn in the sun's light.

There's already magical items that hold masses of spells and reference them quickly. I suspect this would only be as signifigant as rediscovering these technologies(And some of them were never lost).

So it's a Juggernaught construct with a smokepowder bombard(Basically, something availiable since 2nd ed, to say nothing of the tech boost since then!), or an Abrams. An Abrams would run down too fast, though. It would, however, likely be augmented with spells into a kind of golem, and left to defend the Great Rift.

Only items with the drowcraft property, designed specifically to draw power from faerzress, decay in sunllight. And there are several useful magics to help the sunlight adverse deal with the surface world.
