Macs and Powerpoint files

Post by Bounty »

I'm trying to help a friend access Powerpoint files on his Mac. He doesn't have Keynote, hasn't got Office, and MS's Powerpoint Viewer "isn't working". Is there any reasonably-priced (say, $0-50), idiotproof Mac app that can read those files ?

Idiot-proof, no, but OpenOffice.org is free.

Hm - OpenOffice may be a bit over his head with the X11 business, but NeoOffice might work. You wouldn't happen to know how it's PPT compatibility is ? The Wiki isn't working for me.

I know NeoOffice (java version of OpenOffice) has crappy performance, but it should work. Compatability, I dunno. See if anyone you know qualifies for an education discount and buy Keynote or Microsoft Office for half the price. Any college student or teacher in any school qualifies.
