Google, Yahoo's Search Not Working With Opera 8.53

Post by FSTargetDrone »

When trying to use Opera's built-in Google search window, or going to directly to Google's website, the search results page will not load after a search is attempted. When I search (for example) for "ipod" via Google nothing happens. I can access www.google.com just fine, but if I try to search from that, all I get is a blank page with the following address in the address bar:

http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=ip ... gle+Search

The same is true when I attempt to search via Yahoo. If I copy and past that exact address, or any other generated via a Google search into Firefox, it works normally.

However, Lycos, Dogpile and Ask Jeeves work normally when their respective addresses are entered into Opera's address bar and a search for "ipod" is made when each of those sites load.

So, some search pages work, but some do not. Anyone have any idea why this is happening?

I am running eTrust's EZ Antivirus, the latest free ZoneAlarm with permissions to let Opera access the internet and the paid AdSubtract version 3.06 with Advertisement Definitions version 1.44.

This has been a problem since the last few updates of Opera, but I can't recall which version it started. I am only using Opera because I can magnify the entire page to 200%, images and all on my widescreen laptop's 1920 X 1200 native resolution. Magnifying it looks a lot better than the default scaling. Firefox only lets me increase font size on a page, AFAIK, and not images.

Thanks for any input. I'm stumped!

Edit: This also happens with my desktop.

Edited yet again for clarity.
