Jumper settings for 300GB Maxtor HD???

Post by Enigma »

I have installed a 300GB Maxtor Hard Drive into my computer to replace my 60GB secondary hard drive. But I need to transfer everything from the 60GB into the 300GB HD so what I did was disconnect my DVD burner and connected the 300GB.

Now I have 3 HDs and have begun data transfer. Now here comes the tricky part. The HD is a Maxtor 6L300R0. I need to change the jumper settings to slave. This is how it is connected now.

1 2 3 4 5
: : : . : jumper is at 3

Which position do I have to place the jumper to make it slave?

On most recent IDE drives, there's a label on the drive itself telling what the jumper settings are. Some of them even have the instructions in two places.

except I can't make heads or tales of it. the first column is DS I think then columns 2 and 3 are CS.

Found a pic... put the jumper across the top row of pins in columns 2&3. This will set the drive as slave. I think.

Could you post a picture of the label?
I was going to take a picture but my batteries died and it'll take about 20 hours to recharge them and I am out of fresh batteries.

never mind. It says that no jumper means DS slave.
