Used/Refurbished hard drives

Post by Sonnenburg »

I'm looking to pick up an old Deskstar 80 GB hard drive that I can try to use in a last ditch rescue attempt for my dead drive. I realize there's a good chance I'll fuck things up anyway, but I figure it'd be worth forty bucks or so for a chance at resurrection before I toss it in the trash. So, does anyone know of any place besides eBay where I might find a cheap but working drive to donate its body to mad science?

Check around at some of your local computer shops, the small ones. I know here in Houston that these guys sometimes have older used stuff on the cheap, and you might be able to score a decent deal. That and actually see the hardware you might buy.
