The Merom, Intels next generation laptop CPU, has just broken nearly every fucking speed record in the books.

Why? Because some people are ufkcing insane and cool their computers to sub 0C tempatures.

Time to break out the old car analogies!

Currently, the Pentium D competes with the Athlon 64 X2 about as well as a crate with wheels competes with a Ferrari. Yet their next processors, Merom and Conroe (or "Core 2" to give them their final names) reverse the situation and beat the hell out of AMD's offerings.
