RAM and modern processors (upgrade help)

So, I've come to the realization that I won't really be able to upgrade my graphics card to anything modern, because my motherboard only supports up to AGP 4x, and most modern cards are PCI-E 16. As such, I need a new mobo, which means a new processor, too.

Currently, I've got a MSI K7D-Master board with a pair of Athlon MP 2400+ procs on it. I want to switch to a single-proc 64-bit system, having grown tired of the enormous expense and heat dual procs incur.

However, I've got 2 GB of perfectly good PC2700 RAM in that board that I'd ideally like to swap over to a new system. Is this feasible, given my upgrade targets (PCI-E mainboard running a 64-bit proc)? Or is PC2700 RAM too "old" at this point?

PC2700 RAM should work on modern motherboards, but it won't be as fast as more modern RAM modules.

In all the tests I've seen, the speed of RAM doesn't seem to impact performance hardly at all unless it's truly ancient, and PC2700 shouldn't be that far behind the curve. I'd say you're fine.
