Firefox and WMV Plugins: HELP!!

Post by Einhander Sn0m4n »

I'm trying to watch the embedded videos at Atomicforum.com, but they're some sort of streaming Windows Media Player format that refuses to come up with anything other than "additional Plugins are required; click here to DL the plugin", FF's way of saying "HUH!??!?" When I click anything, it goes to either MS's site for DLing WMP (reinstalled WMP10 just now with Firefox closed completely; didn't work at all and a waste of a good session) or Mozilla's Plugindoc site. I also tried manually dropping the WMP dll files for Firefox in the /plugins/ dir, also didn't work. WTF AM I SUPPOSED TO DO TO GET THIS BONEHEADED CONTRAPTION TO WORK!?

P.S. I also found that MS is bait-and-switching people off their WMP10 page onto a WMP11beta DL. Very low-blow of them. :finger:

And the first guy who says "Use Opera" will find a twelve gigaton thermonuclear hypersonic railgun shell shoved up their rectum; razor-sharp stabilizer fins and all!

This is becoming a prevalent problem with Firefox. I think MS did this intentionaly.
"If the facts are on your side, pound on the facts. If the law is on your side, pound on the law. If neither is on your side, pound on the table."

"The captain claimed our people violated a 4,000 year old treaty forbidding us to develop hyperspace technology. Extermination of our planet was the consequence. The subject did not survive interrogation."

You might try an extension called MediaPlayerConnectivity. It can be a bit annoying to use sometimes, but it'll let you pop those videos up into your regular media player.

Well there was a new firefox jut released, which says it fixes an issue with Windows media content http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/releases/1.5.0.6.html

Maybe they borked it in 1.5.0.5?

Updated; still b0rked. I definitely think MS did it on purpose now; it fits their MO.

when I see or expect .wmv files, I right click and open it in an IE tab.
