A spider fried the fan in my power supply

Post by Isolder74 »

Yesterday my computer was suddenly powering off for no apparent reason because it was to hot inside. after a few hours of tinkering I figured out that a spider had crawled inside the fan on the power supply while it was off and me turning in on had fried the spider and the fan keeping the power supply cool.

Fortunatally I keep a backup power supply lying around(its not the best but it works) and so I'm not computerless because of a mindless anthropod.

BTW I had thought it might have been because of the hot day until I started tinkering. That day I had left the AC off.

1:Do Spiders still fall under the category of "bugs"?

2: Would a warrant cover this?

It's been a long time since some of my classes, but I believe spiders and insects are in the same Phylum, Arthropoda, but different classes. So I guess they're cousins.

I'd try to get a warranty replacement (or service) if my PSU was still under warranty. Just clear out the spider chunks and play innocent.

Hell yeah. I work in a manufacturing plant and I take my PC in once a month to blow it out with the compressed air hoses they have there.

Or you could just get a spray can of aerosol duster. They cost like $8 a pop and contain enough propellant to completely clean my entire LAN.

Oh hell. My fiancee's power supply on her 'puter just went out a week ago. I can't bear to tell her to look for spiders!
