I've taken a look at it and it doesn't look that heavy to me. In fact it loads up quite quick. Maybe one reason would be the sIFR technique that is employed over the site.
But you also seem to have a big ass load of visitors every day and in that case even small page sizes, multiplied by tens of thousands of visitors will boost up your bandwidth. In fact you almost have 100 000 views each day.
