Thanks for posting this mod. It is absolutely amazing! But I do have a few questions. The Flak Cannons alone made it worth it!

A lot of the listed ranges on the weapons indicate that they are quite short, such as the renamed green lasers. Yet the engagements I was having showed that they were EXTREMELY long range. Do you by chanec have an accurate list of weapon ranges that ya changed?

All ranges more or less have been increased dramatically, so fleet engagements are more about formations and composition. The weapons all fill certain roles, and varying mixtures are effective in different scenarios.

The 2.5's list IS accurate. What you're seeing are weapon values that have been re-balanced. So greenlasers may look long range to you, but compared to a torpedo or a an axial red laser they'll be painfully close range, and the the little weaponchart balance bars reflect that.

Hey, I know this is an old topic, but I still like to keep folks posted.

A guy in the mod forums over at SOTS' boards is working on a replacement for the random encounters. One of the things he's finished so far is a Deathstar model that looks fairly impressive in action. His TL's are way off but it looks pretty snazzy in combat. Thought you bunch might like it.

And also my mod has got a NEW version out. Check out some screenies in THIS thread. I've improved them since his posting, and his image quality is weak, but I like that people besides me were endorsing it. This would be fun to play with SD.N folks, I think. Neph and I have played some games.

I was highly interested when this came out, more when you started modding and drooling when I saw the screenshots. Alas, my 32 meg integrated graphics card and my laptop is supremely unsuited to any kind of demanding graphics. The idea of at my fingertips multiplayer is the biggest draw. Unfortunately I also use wireless, and my Internet cuts out on average three or four times an hour.

So the mind is willing but the laptop is weak. But anybody who can try it should go out and try it, if only because there's other people who can't and who want to :P. I'm sure you can tap all the SE:V and SE:IV players around Covenant, you could try advertising in the SE:V thread. Turn based is king, Warcraft, Starcraft, and most other RTS can kiss my hairy X-Commed ass.

Neh?

What did you do? I suggest either using the mod manager or extracting the zip into the root directory of the game. There's no way that the game can't find missiles on the tech tree seeing as missiles don't require the tech tree for anything, it's gotta be some other error. Since other people, Neph and I included, are running the game properly I'm sure it's just a silly error that I can work you through. I don't think it's anything my mod could have done. You didn't, like, erase your .gob did you?

Well there's your problem.

Heh. Next time, take a fresh install and extract the file--with file tree structure intact--right into the root directory and don't erase anything like a gob or whatnot. Don't apply this over another mod. If you have several mods, or want a clear game (ie, without a lot of extracted folders) get the mod manager from here:

http://bromocspace.googlepages.com/home

Not my page.

If you still have problems, make sure you mail or post me your session text bit so I can see what the debug issue is.

Glad to hear it! 3.1's much better all around. I think it's also much easier on the computers that run it, it certainly has waaaay less particles than the normal Kerebos counts, and looks a hell of a lot better.

Really, the shit they put out with that game, it's atrocious.

yeah, this along with the former fallout people giving the source code and editting tools for fallout 2, gives me great hope for mods like you.

purged with fire, reloaded got it to run in basic again, and then extracted the files. I think there's soemthing wrong with my download from fileplanet as the computer froze up, and the first time I tried to run it this showed up again.
