ote="VF5SS"]Gameplay footage from Gundam Blue Destiny 1. Since I'm probably the only person on this board who ever played (and owns) a Blue Destiny game, I'm posting this video to give you guys my idea of a good Gundam. Despite it being somewhat simplistic, the gameplay is fast and fun. I figure if more Gundam games were made like this one then maybe they'd all be more enjoyable as a whole. Rise from the Ashes came close. It certainly improved on the limited controls of Blue Destiny.[/quote]

As a Gundam Fan I have one problem with that, Yuu and the other's don't receive RGM-79D GM Cold Climate Types until after they have their altercation with the RX-79BD-1 Blue Destiny Unit 1 when it goes berserk whilst doing a live combat test during assault on a Zeon base, which Yuu and the others were participating in, until then they use RGM-79's.

I'd think Blue Destiny and Rise from the Ashes are old enough for a possible remake to be considered.

Ironically, I think people underestimate Nintendo's grasp of this problem. They've tried - and failed, mind you - to break the cycle of 'better graphics' by trying things that were previously impossible. See Virtual Boy for details. Then there's the DS's mic and touch screen, new turf, the PS/2's guitar controller and EyeToy (which I actually enjoyed) and the Wii's motion controller. These may seem like giant gimmicks, but they represent at least an opportunity for game developers to try things that haven't been tried before.
Note: I'm semi-retired from the board, so if you need something, please be patient.

I ccompletely understand where the, 'I'm not impressed' crowd is coming from, but personally, I was impressed enough to buy a 360. When Oblivion first came out, my PC couldn't handle the game at all, and I would have had to have bought a new computer altogether in order to play the game (1.2 GHZ PIII, on board graphics, and 256 MB of memory). I wanted to play the game, but didn't have the $900+ to shell out on a new PC. FOR ME, the 360 was the perfect way to play that game, and the other great games that were to follow. I was able to play Ghost Recon (another PC game that would have otherwise been unavailible to me), and now, several good 1st and 3rd party titles are starting to see the light of day, and several more are on the way (I plan on gettin Mass Effect, and possibly Lost Planet as soon as they hit the shelves).

Consoles offer an afforable option to those of us who can't afford to spend a few hundred dollars every 2, or less, years to keep up with the latest games. There are many guys at my school who have fairly high-end computers, but from what I've seen, the majority of college kids like myself can't afford them, and opt for the console option. The console provides a fairly affordable gaming medium.

Having said that, I perfer PC games over console games, most of the time. PC shooters play better - a lot better. The only time I actually perfer console shooters is when I've got a few friends over, and we want to hop onto Xbox live and terrorize some innocent by-standers. In that respect, consoles are a little better at providing an inclusive experience.

Oh yeah, I've got to give my two cents about the games - from what I've experienced, there are some really good console games, and there are some really bad ones. Dead Rising and Gears of War are the only two games that I can say impressed the hell out of me. Dead Rising is just about one of the most enjoyable games I've played in awhile, but Gears of War tops it. There are a lot of people who think Gears is just a graphically more appealing shooter, and while it is a sexy game to look at, it really does play a bit different than any game I've ever played. Aside from the excellent audio, the single player is average, at best, but the online multi-player aspect of the game really lets this game shine. I've said it before, and I'll say it again - this game doesn't do anything radically new - it just does a much better job of doing what most other shooters already do.
