PS3 in Stock, Already: Demand Low

I see eBay scalpers as ripping off idiots who want to have it on launch day. Sure, if 40% of all sales went to eBay that's pretty poor (lol ps3), but I've never missed out on anything I wanted, and it ISN'T worth paying billions of dollars for the fun and excitement of waiting months for new releases.

This is why there is the #1 rule of computer shopping. NEVER EVER EVER buy state-of-the-art. It applies to hardware and software. You'll get it for much less if you just wait.

As an example, I have almost zero time for video games these days. It was only last month that I finally got around to picking up Rome Total War. Of course I got it in the bundle pack along with BI, Alexander, Medival TW, Viking Invasion, Shogun TW and Mongol Invasion all for ~$60.

It's crazy that this is happening to the PS3 (but not unexpected). However, I have never seen the point of rushing in to anything.

Pour example: I got my copy of House season one nearly a year after it came out, yet it wasn't even a third of its original price. Now, is it really worth spending so much more on something to get it earlier? I don't believe it is. As with the Wii, I am waiting, mainly for niggles to be ironed out and better games. Hell, I waited till the Lite before getting DS, knowing it had so much support, games and a better design.

I can wait, but it seems those that queued up had to have PS3 on launch day or they'd, uh, die or something equally terrible.

Hahah yeah, Nintendo handhelds have had a better, smaller version released some time after release.

I just like thinking about all the lamers who stood in lines and fought others to the death in ritual combat for a PS3. How must they feel, walking through stores with piles of PS3s just sitting there?

There is only ONE reason (and a pretty weak one at that) to buy things like this hot off the delivery truck: keeping up with the Joneses. Its particularly bad among kids who "just aren't cool" if they don't have the latest console and the kid up the street does.

Ditto. I've only just started picking up 'new' games myself again after a long dry spell, and the other day I picked up two EA compilation packs with 5 games each for about $60 altogether. (Their Strategy and Warfare packs, specifically).

Thats what I've been doing with the Wii (or on better nights having it brought here). I'm not paying money for a souped up Cube with hardly any good single player games (more so when the one I want is on Cube).

You could probably make a better return on ebay selling Black and Pink DS Lites than PS3s. Nintendo still can't keep up with demand.

The only problem with the eBay scalper in my opinion is that stores take back the systems. If there was a more rigid return policy, consumers would be feeding off the idiot scalpers who bought the PS3 thinking they would make a profit. Looking on ebay, you now can save about $50-$100 in getting a 60gig version.

If people are willing to pay the stupid tax to buy a system off ebay rather than wait a month or so to have it right fucking now, that's their own issue. They know exactly what they are getting, and exactly what they are paying for it.

I've been lucky enough to get a launch day Xbox 360 and Wii, but if I hadn't I would have waited, it's only a fucking game system, not oxygen.
