Black & White 2 question
I only recently picked up this game, so, i have a couple of questions to ask.
1. What are the range of stuff you can teach your creature? I just realised that apparently, eating villagers is differentiated between eat your villager and eat theirs.
I wonder if I can make my creature poo exclusively in their cities:D
2. Which would be better in your opinion? A good god with a bad creature, or an evil god with a good creature?

Go for a good creature. All you need it for is slowing down the enemy's creature, but it's nice if you can tether it to something and have it water crops and such.PainRack wrote:I only recently picked up this game, so, i have a couple of questions to ask.

However, being evil is almost necessary. Build some walls and get good with the fireball spell and you'll never need to worry about enemy armies. You can still swing it into the 'good' catagory, but it doesn't pay to be afraid of violence. It's way easier to creep your cities forwards with farms to give yourself a launching platform for fireballs than it is to beat them with armies.

Hmm, perhaps that's why I lost that particular mission.Covenant wrote:It's way easier to creep your cities forwards with farms to give yourself a launching platform for fireballs than it is to beat them with armies.
And then stopped playing altogether. I think I still have the ISO hanging around.

So IOW, use your creature to handle the micro-management of a village, whereas you take on the big guns?
I think I'm going to just screw this good/bad alignment thing for a while and focus on getting an independent creature........

I actually worked on this game as a gameplay tester (look me up - I'm in the credits!), so I can hopefully give you some useful tips.
You really don't need to worry about your creatures alignment as regards defending against the enemy, because you can be so much more effective doing it yourself.
With a little bit of practice with the fireball miracle you should be able to take out catapults (which will slowly burn and die) and groups of soldiers whenever they approach your walls (walls are a must, as you can't afford to have your town constantly take damage due to the finite amount of ore on each map).
Additionally an excellent tactic for defeating groups of enemy infantry is to cast a water spell on them (by lobbing the big glob of water into the centre of the unit) then immediately cast a lightning spell on them. Again use the lobbing method, and try to throw the lightning so that is goes on a low, fast trajectory and bounces right in the middle of the enemy unit (as this is actually more effective than it "detonating" in the unit). The water spell will have made then extremely vulnerable to the lightning and you should be able to kill even extremely large groups this way.
As for the enemy creature, all you have to do if find a great big rock somewhere in your territory, preferably one so large it is only just possible for you to pick it up; keep this rock close to your town. As soon as the enemy creature steps into your influence drop a fireball on it and then immediately begin throwing the huge rock very fast directly into the creature, repeat until it dies (make sure that you throw the rock so it lands within you influence each time!).
If you don't want to use this method to kill the enemy creature (it is a bit "cheap") then just buy a couple of big units of archers and buy the fire arrows upgrade, they kill the creature so fast it's ridiculous.
Also if you end up with a catapult just outside your influence destroying your walls which you can't hit with a fireball, send you creature into destroy it (once you have rid the area of the cursed archers). The creature will usually kill it in one kick.

Cool. Thanks!Aaron Ash wrote:I actually worked on this game as a gameplay tester (look me up - I'm in the credits!), so I can hopefully give you some useful tips.
A question offensive-wise. How would one attack or invade another city then? I was under the impression that creatures retain as important a role as they did in 1, where their casting of miracles like volcanoes was a game-winner.With a little bit of practice with the fireball miracle you should be able to take out catapults (which will slowly burn and die) and groups of soldiers whenever they approach your walls (walls are a must, as you can't afford to have your town constantly take damage due to the finite amount of ore on each map).

I found it was usually easiest to wait for the enemy to expend their troops attacking your defences then immediately send a large group of your own troops (archers if the enemy have a creature lurking) and go straight to capturing their town. If you want to be clever you can use one unit of swordsmen to distract the enemy's troops while another unit flanks them adn captures the town. The key is taking over their town as quickly as possible, because once you get influence in the area you can basically defeat any counter attacks by using your Godly powers.
The creature, to be honest, is too flaky to rely on for anything. Take him along with your attack and he might be awesome and bombard the enemy with fire and lightning, or he might just eat some trees then die. Also he can't cast the "epic" spells such volcano (even though the bag guys Ape does so in a cutscene, urgh).

That's also why I'd creep up buildings. Silos also make good stuctures. Very cheap with lots of influence. I'd make a ladder out of them so I could fling fireballs from near their city walls. And then I'd just burn down the stuff inside and kill everyone. My critter could handle the rest.
You can also do things like set trees on fire and then start lobbing them into the city, that works real well. Your creature can otherwise just manage your city, attack enemy creatures, and loaf around. Fireball Miracles will win it for you, easy.

If you like a bit of fun, save every big rock you can, and every little one. Break them down into smaller parts, but not too smal, and just go to town on the enemy walls. Nothings beats hurling a sliver of rock through the gates and seeing them fly open.
