McAfee Problems slowing things down

So McAfee recently told me to upgrade which I did. Now everything seems to be so slow, from browsing to booting up my computer. And it's not even doing a good job, since it's now allowing those WhenUSave crap to start appearing that the older version suppressed. Is there some option that it's doing or any one have any experience with this?
