I've been trying to update FEAR so I can play Extraction Point, but somethings going wrong. I've tried the automatic update, as well as manual downloads of several versions (both UK and US), and I always get the same message:
'This update is only compatible with the English (United States) version of F.E.A.R. Please use the correct update for the installed version of the game.'
My version is the UK version of the game, but this error occurs even when I install the UK version of a patch, which is clearly not for the US game.
Help?
FEAR update problem

The website downloads don't work for me, because they automatically use bitcomet (or rather I've somehow set that to occur), and don't download. The UK v1.07 patch (called 'fear_update_engb_106_107') claims it isn't compatible with my version (which was bought in Liverpool HMV). If there is a patch that gets round this do you have a link?

Have you tried reinstalling the game, and then applying the patches?
Are you behind a firewall? The reason I ask this question is because Star Trek Legacy would tell you that the host is using a different version when trying to join a multiplayer game.
The solution for me was placing my computer on the DMZ.

I reinstalled the game the other day but the prolbme persists.
My firewall is the free version of ZoneAlarm, but as far as I'm aware its not blocking FEAR, on account of if it were it displays a window telling me it is and asking me if it should continue to do so. I'll turn it off and see if that makes a difference next time.
