Help Tasoth get a new video card

Post by Tasoth »

Tax return time and that means something usless for me to buy. My current video card, a geforce 6600, isn't that bad, but I have to turn down my settings to get a good frame rate for the likes of HL2 or Company of Heroes. So I'd like to get a new card, even though I'm clueless when it really comes to the technical specs of a computer, and would like something under 100 bucks. Any advice?

Nvidia is launching its new line of Midrange GPUs pretty soon, while I don't think any of them will be under $100, it should drive down the prices of previous generation cards.

You *will* have to find out if your motherboard is AGP or PCI-Express.

Thank god for labels on the front of the PC. Right next to the graphics card name, it says PCI Express.

Some name-brand computers technically have a PCI-Express bus, but no actual PCI-e slots. Considering the front of your computer even has a sticker, I would definitely pop the thing open and check for myself, if I were you.
