He's done better, like his previous sci-fi documentary Alive in Joburg. You can watch it here, I believe.Durandal wrote:Now that's a trailer worth a damn. If that live-action spot is the guy they slated to do the movie, I'm glad that it's on hold.

Methinks you people have it backwards. The live action trailer is awesome, although perhaps better music might have aided it, and the random explosion next to the guy at the end needed to be cut.
The in-game trailer shows off the game nicely, but is a bit boring, and the music is lacklustre, annoying even. The lack of in-game sound coupled with this worsens the problem. A better approach would have been what was done for Halo 2, i.e. a run-through of a level based on, but not the same as, an actual level, showing off all the new features but not giving too much away about the storyline. Or even just some semblance of a link between sound and visuals, instead of 'here's a slideshow of explosions and stuff, set to some music that's not very good'.

Actually, people did get to see part of the first level being played through, though obviously a video of it was not released. TeamXbox has a writeup of it, if anyone's interested: SPOILERS. And yes, the live-action trailer was awesome. The trailer for the actual game seemed a little lackluster, though still pretty cool.

You might as well check out Tetra Vaal and Yellow while you're at it.Natorgator wrote:He's done better, like his previous sci-fi documentary Alive in Joburg. The only problem there was that the demo version of New Mombasa was about sixty or seventy billion times better than what we got, so it made that portion of the game feel extremely lacklustre. Excepting the twelve or so seconds where we got to see Sarge act like a total lunatic, the New Mombasa we got was really, really boring. The demo level built up expectations that were never fulfilled.Lazarus wrote:A better approach would have been what was done for Halo 2, i.e. a run-through of a level based on, but not the same as, an actual level, showing off all the new features but not giving too much away about the storyline.
What is Project Zohar?
Here's to a certain mostly harmless nutcase.

I actually liked most of the New Mombasa levels, excepting the handful of times my own marines ran me over in a warthog. Then again, I liked Halo 2's campaign in general, so take that as you will.Ford Prefect wrote:The only problem there was that the demo version of New Mombasa was about sixty or seventy billion times better than what we got, so it made that portion of the game feel extremely lacklustre. In any event, I think that releasing and playing up a gameplay trailer in place of just a level reel, even a faux one, was a prudent move on Bungie's part; even this late in the development process, elements of the campaign, design, and overall gameplay are bound to change, and some people are going to complain when they do, even if the changes are generally positive (as, I will admit, they were not in Halo 2's case). .
