I logged on to my computer any all my bookmarks have gone. I remember this happening to others but when I searched the forum I got no hits. Is there way to get them back with out doing it manually.

Assuming you're using Windows, go to

Documents and Settings/[username]/Application Data/Mozilla/Firefox/Profiles/[profile ID].default/bookmarkbackups

and you should find them there.
