I stayed away from becoming the Slayer, as well. Never felt that I needed to.

As for eating Demi Liches for breakfast, I'm a fan of Keldorn with the Holy Avenger and a Scroll of Protection from Undead.

HA HA! NOW I REVEAL MY TRUE FORM! Man, this guy's taking a long time to get back. I hope he returns soon, because I have a really big headache. And I'm all head. I think I need to lie down. ARGH I'M DEAD!
I never really tested out how magic resistance stacked up against Imprisonment, which would be relevant since I often played as a Wizard Slayer. By end game I'd intentionally walk over Traps of Disintigration and laugh as it bounces off my character's natural tendency to resist about 115% of all spells cast at him.

Demi Lich is ridiculously easy. Turns out the Slayer is immune to Imprisonment and resistant to a lot of shit. Even if you PC is utter suck at melee combat, like my Sorceror, he eats the Demi Lich for breakfast.
I almost always outright refused to transform into the Slayer. Am I the only person who did this? I guess I get into the roleplaying aspect of it a bit too much, because on the rare instances I did transform into the Slayer, it made me feel kind of... well, dirty.

And yet at the same time, sometimes I'd get pissed off with something, save my game, and lay waste to my entire party with as many big, destructive spells as I could hurl out at them.
The only weapon that Kangaxx had was imprisonment, which Berserkers (but not barbarians) are immune to when raging. Kelgorn was a berserker, so you just had to give him enough a weapon that could hit him (IIRC, +4 or better) and he could just go to town.

Planescape: Torment is much better than BG:II (and I may have spent more time with that game than anything short of Civilization and TIE Fighter). It's a ridiculously awesome game.

Oh I got into the roleplaying aspect a lot too. The thing is, Mordred (my sorcerer) is Neutral Evil. The guy is a mercenary bastard with only a very thin veneer of civility keeping him from slaughtering random civilians. For him, turning into the personification of murder and ripping things apart isn't dirty. It is almost as fun as bending reality to his will in order to cause tremendous destruction while laughing maniacally.

Baldur's Gate is awesome for the simple reason of Minsc. A better RPG character has yet to be created.
