I play everything from Star Control 2 to Unreal Tournament 3 on Vista, with no problems. Sometimes you have to kick it in the pants (ie give full access to the game folder, or create a file that Vista prevents the game from making itself) though.

Stark there's a fix for that Supreme commander problem on the games support page.

Work fine on my vista now.

No, there isn't. GPG links to THQ which has nothing Vista or install-related regarding SupCom.

Actually, certain 32-bit OSes can use more than 4GB of RAM. you just can have any single program access all of it. Example certain windows server OSes can handle it with what's called PAE. It severly fucks with most drivers though, so it's not really usable on consumer machines.

Zac, I've got that update, and it still doesn't install. My system is clearly cursed. :)

That's insane, it installed with zero problems on my machine after finding all the memory patches I could find (that's the one that fixed it for me).

What with all the problems you've had you seriously must have a cursed machine.

Hurm, so you had the same 'click install, looks like a black DOS window flashes up, then crashes' problem, and memory fixes solved that? I'm pretty sure I've got all the RAM/performance patches... all the threads I've found on the net just have people who can and people who can't install it. :(

I only want to install it so I can turn everything up to max and say 'nope, still shit'. I just hate unsolved problems. :)

Yeh wouldn't let me install until after i'd done a bunch of memory fixes.

I am on a 64bit system. I don't know if that's the difference?

Horrors. Do you know what's in it? That seriously sounds like the makings of a "you know when you're using Windows joke."
