Question about Service Pack 2 (for XP)

Post by [R_H] »

I just reinstalled, and I don't know if I need to authenticate before updating to SP2. That would mean going online to authenticate, but I don't have any of the other patches yet. Is there any way to download a cumulative update (on another computer of course) and then patch the fresh XP SP1 install?.

Thanks

Online activation should be done after all drivers and hardware is installed.

Patches, service packs and driver updates aren't an issue unless you are connected directly to the internet without a NAT or firewall between the computer and the 'net.

Unpatched computers should have an external firewall or NAT between them untill they are fully patched.

I already downloaded that. It's sitting on the desktop, waiting to be installed

I found the August 2007 Core Autopatcher, and I'm using that to install the updates. Is there any way to get the updates (especially the critical ones) that were made available between August and now?

Thanks
