Anyone's PS3 crash?
Mine has, twice. I only own Assassin's Creed - the first time, Altair just froze in mid-motion but I could move the camera around and turn off the system via the control pad, but the second time, just now, it was a hard, PC type crash, with the controller unresponsive - I had to shut down the system from the back.
EDIT: turns out the freeze-in-mid-whatever crash is common with Assassin's Creed on the PS3. I don't know if it's been patched, I haven't connected my PS3 to the internet (firmware update came with the game, so I didn't see the need).

I've never had any problems here, and I've had some pretty long sessions on it as well.

Take it in, it sounds defective.
Of current-gen HW, I did have my launch Wii stop reading discs for a while, but Nintendo fixed it. The PS3 works flawlessly, but I stopped doing the all-week f@h sessions. And my DS is of course made of Nintendium and survives all drops of all heights.

I downloaded a patch the second my PS3 (which is connected to the net) started Assassins Creed, so I suspect it was corrected in that.

Unfortunately I don't know my WEP (and don't have the password etc to find out from my wireless router) so I need to find that out before I can connect my PS3 up.

Can't you just plug in an ethernet connection?Vympel wrote:Unfortunately I don't know my WEP (and don't have the password etc to find out from my wireless router) so I need to find that out before I can connect my PS3 up.

Don't have a cable on me.Ubiquitous wrote:Can't you just plug in an ethernet connection?
I didn't, got a friend to set it up for me. He has an annoying tendency to not give me the damn passwords for things whenever my parents ask him to change something (I bought this PC from him). Unfortunately, he's overseas and won't be back until Monday or Tuesday, dammit.
If you don't know the password, how did you set the WEP in the first place?

Isn't there some sort of hole for the router's reset button that you could just switch on with a pin or something? Most routers have them to restore things to their factory settings.Vympel wrote:Now that you suggested it yes, but it don't work. As all have probably figured out, anything involving the net is a big fucking technical blindspot for me. I'm petrified of any technical problems to do with the net, so I'm worried that if I were to reset the router I'd somehow stuff everything up.General Zod wrote:

Why?
Anyway I found my WEP key- I had kept it elsewhere and I remembered. I updated my PS to the latest version, but when it detected the update for Assassin's Creed, the download just sat at 0% for ages. I'll try it again later, I assume the server is down or something.
EDIT: It was, it downloaded now.
