Computer Drawing Help

So on the suggestion of a few members, I have decided that I will truly enter the technology age with my only real skill... Drawing.

What recommendations, if any, do you guys have for some sort of computer thingy to draw on. Man, I don't even know what they are called. Tablets?
Price isn't an issue, as this may turn out to make me money, (Well, not say $10,000. That would be an issue.) so I'm just looking for the best product out there.

Any help would be great. Appreciation in advance.

Go for a Wacom, take no other.

$100? That's it? Damn, as an American, I demand to be gouged for something I need! No seriously, that is way cheaper than I thought. I can't really tell from the picture, but can you hold that in you hand like a pallet or a clip board?

You should totally try it Havokeff. Mess with it enough times, and you can do on computer what you usually do with your pencil, with the Painter Classic that came free with my Wacom. No messy eraser marks FTW.

Or cut out the wireless mouse, assuming your computer has more than one USB port, and get the exact same product for 70 dollars. Bamboo

I have one. It is good.

and thats not even the cheap verison. I like mine (same one I linked) I can hold in one hand and draw with the other and it comes with a mouse to use on the pad if you need it. The pens annoying if you have large fingers (it takes serious cramping to use the 2 buttons for the first week)

Ah, a Cintiq. Good choice. i´m currently working with one and i´m absolutely satisfied with it. Besides being a tablett it´s also a very good monitor. The only thing that can be annoying at times is that you have to switch from the pen to the mouse if you are using dual monitors because, naturally you can´t control the cursor on the second monitor with your Cintiq pen. I find dual monitors absolutely necessary for a good workflow. Or you just have to learn to use your mouse with the left hand but in times of internet porn you´re probably already able to do so.

Oh, and 2500 Dollars is a pretty good deal. In Europe we have to shell out allmost 3000 Euros for the same thing.

I strongly recommend starting with a cheap one. You can see if you like it, and if you do, you haven't wasted any money, because a slim little Bamboo is great for sticking in your laptop case so you can work on it anywhere.

What laptop?

One of the disadvantages of just having a motorcycle and not being willing to wear a shoulder bag. And If I don't like it I don't like it. No big deal. Maybe I'll give it one of you guys.

Cintiq's are really nice, very flash if you haven't used one before (or seen one). I remember my jaw dropped the first time I saw one (-OOOH! Can I tough it? - No.) at my designer friend's place. Then I got her to draw some boobs on a picture of Wolverine.

They are really good for playing casual games like backgammon against each other since you can use one pen per player so you don´t have to switch the mouse all the time.

I should really get a tablet too, since I can't draw for hell on paper, but can do moderately well digitally. any recommendations for an absolute nub (Well, mostly.) when it comes to art?

My first Wacom was a Graphire but it seams that they´re not available anymore. I guess the Bamboo is what replaced the Graphire. I guess that would be a good start. Other than that i can recommend the Intuos which is a very solid tablet.

You can also get Manga Studio from e-frontier software. Some artists I know use it and it's pretty versatile for any drawing style you may have. Like this guy

I second that. Those tablets usually need AAA batteries to power the pen unlike Wacom pens.
