I demand a "Phantom of the Opera" mask. Why? Because I fucking can.

Any opinions on this game, anyone who has played it? Is it worth me buying?

No.

It's amazingly easy, amazingly short, and the plot is cripplingly retarded.

In other news, the 'gun bling' is a single alternate skin for each gun. There are 10 masks, all low-res and uninteresting. The gun buying/customisation thing is worthless because after one play-through you'll have enough to buy the best shit and upgrade it (barring the nutso stuff like miniguns etc) and it's easy to identify the 'good' and 'bad' guns from statistics + addons.

I've played it for 3 hours, I'm at the second-last level, and it's Gears of Duty-style setpiece battles with waves of spawning guys that die in two hits. The co-op maneuvers are extremely limited and nowhere near as useful as suggested before launch, and the team-mate control interface is very vague so it's impossible to say 'kill that guy' or 'go here'. It's almost impossible to die.

It's doubtless a bit fun on multi, though: Ando and I will have a bash at it tomorrow. But I expected it to be stupid and I'm actually disappointed. :)

I am mostly interested in co-op, so if it's better with a friend, let us know. I'm only really interested in it for a co-op bash on a friend's giant screen.

I had lots of fun with co-op, to be honest.

I'm interested in this, however rentals can be damned expensive but would this be best to wait and see if I can get it cheap?

Army of two is pretty fun. The co-op is nice and the A.I. partner isn't too stupid. I can't think of anything outstanding other than pimping the guns, or anything really horrible.

In short, rent it. I bought it because its not out for rent here though I am satisfied with the game.

I get the feeling that the game will

a) be much more awesome in co-op.

and the much bigger point:

b) will in fact be a great MP game once the fucking DLC that should have been packaged with it (fuck you EA) is released.

Having finished the game and played some coop, I can report that coop is fun... because Ando and I shoot people while bitching about how broken and boring the game is. :)

My 360 tried to kill the disk, so we didn't get very far, so I don't know how 'hard' the 'hard' bits will be.

And by hard bits he means the fucking last level. Where they suddenly realised that the game was only 3-4 hours long and shit, we'd better ramp this difficulty way the fuck up to artificially inflate the length. But only for this one tiny little segment. Then it will be easy as fuck all over again.

My big issue? Cutscenes. The awesome stuff happens in the cutscenes. I want to do that awesome stuff.

Another quick niggle - the first few levels feature some truly hilarious moustache-twirling "EEEEEVIL" bad-guys. And then it degenerates into "serious social commentary" which it fails at. If they'd stuck with the Dick Dastardly bad-guys and had that feel throughout this game would have been much better.

I'm keen to try some vs Multiplayer, but the EA servers appear to be crap and will neither let me find, nor create a match.

This seems to be the problem with a lot of multiplayer capable X-Box games is that the multiplayer really isn't that active, if at all. I've tried playing muliplayer on a number of games including Blazing Angels II (Good luck finding any game mode bar deathmatch), Stranglehold (practically non existent), and even some where the servers arent great like Battlestations Midway and Star Trek Legacy.

The servers also suck. Ando and I had near-constant disconnects playing a coop game. It was worse than when Hawkeye and I played some Gears - actual disconnects, not slight de-syncs.

The constant disconnects strangely only happened when played against Stark. When messing about with Yuki, it worked properly.

I am keen to try some adversarial this weekend if Stark, Yuki and one more can be bothered...

I also have this problem. I also dislike having to register the game with EA for an EA account.

Just played a round of adversarial.

It is EVERYTHING that single player/co-op isn't.

It's pretty much adversarial co-op. 2 teams of 2 in an AI populated environment trying to beat each other to the objectives and get big cash. There are drivable vehicles, pretty cool scenarios and a great little dynamic of "do I want to kill the other team and get a free run at the target, or let them do the hardwork and then snipe the target from here" or any number of other scenarios.

Really quite a lot of fun.

I suppose if you have an EA account from PC games like Battlefield 2142 and BF2 that you can use that?

I haven't had to create an EA account? It just signs me in... It may be remembering details from previous online EA games though.

I will reiterate one point. Adversarial is awesome. Great, great fun.
