Recommend a good game/tech site
Im looking for a good, reliable source of information (news/reviews) about computer related stuff - hardware, games, software (like operating systems). What do you think is the best? Mind you, Im not interested in sites like gamerankings.com, which compile all around stuff. Thanks.

Slashdot is full of trolls, and doesn't have very many people who actually know what they are talking about, and the few who do get drowned out by the idiots. Anyway, they just collect stories from real tech sites, so going to those sites is probably a better idea.
Ars Technica is one good tech site, and News.com, owed by CNET, is another.
As for video games, there are too many different opinions on what constitutes a good video game for anybody to make recommendations as to what reviews you are going to like. Some people think graphics are important, while others think graphics are only a small part of the game, and other things like gameplay are important. Take a look at some of those review aggregate sites, and look at the margins between the highest score and the lowest score given to them. While one person loves a certain game, another may hate it, so trying to find one site where you agree with almost all of their reviews is impossible. My recommendation is to just use those aggregate sites.

Aggregate sites are useless when (as is current) 90% of review websites are totally useless. They take the least informative part of a review (the stupid number at the end) and pull them together; even IGN reviews that give 85% to a turd usually MENTION the flaws in the actual text. It's even worse if you have a brain and are thus in a totally different game-playing world to those 90% of reviewers.
If you want to know if a game is good, find someone who plays it and talk to them. Reviews scores are uselss and reviews are really only useful insofar as they mention important things like notable problems or successes.
Remember, GTA4 had an aggregate score of 100% for a time. That's totally useless information. Even reviews that gave the game 95% mentioned the issues in the text. I doubt there are games that nobody you know has ever played, so just ask them. I'd never trust a book review either, but people I know can easily recommend me a book.

I agree with you Stark, but unfortunately gathering opinions is out of the question. Im looking for good sources for the technology section of a new internet portal. Im looking for sources of articles and news.
I will be writing some things by myself, but I still need 2-4 news items or reviews daily. It could be done if it was the only thing I did, but this is not the case.
