Rar and ISO issue

Post by Bounty »

I've been sent a disc image that's been split into 12 rar archives. I can extract the archives with Archive Manager and unrar, but the ISO is messed up - all the files appear to be there, but their file names are just underscores.

Is the original archive just borked, or am I doing something wrong?

Was this file split up with anything other than Winrar? I've found that some compressed archives require that you use a specific program or you'll wind up with errors in the file when they're extracted. If Winrar itself produces errors the file might just be borked.

That might be it. I'll try Winrar proper.

ETA: I'm an idiot. Winrar gave me blank files too, but mounting the disc image shows it's fine, so the problem is with Archive Manager's preview function. Non-problem solved.

It's not a real problem, but I'm curious; have you tried opening it with 7zip? I've actually found 7zip is a bit more tolerant of strangeness in archives than poor old winrar.
