You mean 'Ismailis' and yeah, they're all over the show. There are communities throughout the Middle East and a sizeable commuity in India. Of course, Assassin's Creed features the evil dudes sending hitsquads out to kill them all and even a hilariously poorly-planned attempt to storm a building in the middle of a major city.
More things to shake my head at. You'd think that the Templars killing them all off would raise some eyebrows, even with the Templars trying to pretend they control everything. Its kind of amusing how Vidic keeps saying that the Templars own the whole world and have wiped out all the Assassins when they can't even track down a baggage handler and are shitting themselves at the idea of the government looking into their business.

What always puzzled me in that game was Desmond not snapping that scrawny little old dude's neck when his back was turned. Hellooo, assassin...

Nah, that'll be the third game, when he's picked up all the skills of a few more ancestors, forming some kind of compound super-assassin.

It's a random old dude who can't notice Desmond filching his pen from his coat pocket, and who ambles slowly around with his back turned to the aforementioned Desmond. No. Just die.

Desmond is descended from a bunch of highly skilled killing machines, however he himself is just some schmuck barman. He could no more snap Vidic's neck than I could, not that it'd get him anywhere except shot.

He's not lying to Vidic about 'not being an assassin', he knows precisely jack and shit about them. Lucy was probably the first assassin he ever met, and she basically had to tell him that fact.
What is Project Zohar?

Here's to a certain mostly harmless nutcase.

Well, he was raised by an Assassin family, but even so, he skipped the halmet the second he got a chance to. They might have taught him some skills, but if they did he never shows them except for pickpocketing.

Well it's implied that he's picking up all his ancestors' abilities from his time in the Animus (or he's jsut going insane), so by the end of the game he probably is a highly skilled killing machine, he just doesn't know it.

My take on the whole retarded "genetic memory" bit is that it provides a nice, neat framing story to allow different time periods and settings under the same series umbrella. I predict game previewers wetting all over themselves when it's revealed that the third (or possibly second) game will be set during modern times and will have Desmond, with the skills of all his bad-ass ancestors, kicking present-day Templar ass.

I say this because, even though it's been completely and obviously foreshadowed, the people who run most game sites are complete morons, who wouldn't understand subtleties of story (which AC didn't really have), if it bit them in the jugular.

I have no idea what any of you are talking about. I bought the game and played if for about 5 minutes and don't remember anything about it except "genetic memories".

Probably because you hadn't actually played any of the game yet...

Hey, you haven't lived until you've stealth-killed the commander on the platform addressing his troops, casually walked away, waited for the troops to resume their places, and gone down the line stealth-killing each and every one of them and then praying for the required 15 seconds before their ADHD kicks in.
