I never did get into the MK series because I was never any good at the complex button combos needed to pull off the special moves.

My issue was that 'lulzblood,' terrible, terrible animations when compared to contemporary fighters, and 'lulzlotsofbloodfinishers' don't add up to a good game.

Oh come on. When MK first came out, there's only one reason anyone really played it. The fact that it was the only fighting game with significant amounts of gore at the time. So it does have that at least. :P
