Sound problem with the new Wii

Post by SCRawl »

So I've set up the new Wii, and it works fine with one exception: most of the time, instead of the usual game sounds, I get static out of the TV speakers. Once in a while things will calm down and I'll get the proper sound, and in some situations I can get predictably good sound, but most of the time during gameplay it's all static.

Regarding my setup, I'm using the normal RCA cables that came with the unit that are plugged into the satellite receiver, which is then plugged into the TV. I can try another TV (or plug directly into the TV I'm using), but it's a pain in the ass to do so.

Any thoughts?

Plugging directly into the TV would probably be the best solution. Doesn't your TV have inputs on the front? That's what I always use for video games, easier than trying to move the damn thing (it's up high on top of the fireplace, and it's a CRT so it's fucking heavy).

In my case, it's an LCD TV mounted inside a little alcove I built for it when I re-did my basement. I thought that it was a good idea at the time, but what it means is that I have to take the TV off the wall to mess with the cables.

Still, it's the easiest thing to try. It'll have to wait until I have someone to plug in the cables while I hold it.

Don't be silly, just grab a chair, and use your knees to balance it while you fumble about with the wires! And if you drop it, well, LCD isn't that expensive, right? :P
