This problem just started today. It seems it is exclusive to my Sopranos box set. This problem was not happening two days ago. I have not made any changes to my system. I am using Windows XP with SP3.
So I put in a disc that has four episodes, which we shall call episodes A, B, C, and D. I open the DVD with Media Player Classic. I navigate to the episode index and choose episode A. It plays fine. Episode B does as well. However, when I choose episodes C and D, episode A plays. This also happens with discs that have three episodes (episodes A and B paly fine but when you choose episode C, episode A plays). I am having the same problem when I use VLC Media Player.
At first I thought the problem was with the DVD. So I played the disc on a DVD player connected to a television and the problem doesn't happen. I then opened the disc with WinDVD and the problem doesn't happen either.
I am thinking the problem is with the software I use but that doesn't explain why it is happening now. I even ripped the DVDs to my hard drive and opened the VIDEO_TS folder. It's still happening.
As I said at the beginning of the post, this is only happening with the Sopranos DVDs.
DVD Viewing Problem

Re: DVD Viewing Problem
Update: I tried a disc on another computer and it's doing the same shit.
Re: DVD Viewing Problem
Another Update: I have figured out what the problem is and it is fucking hilarious. When I skip the copyright violation warning and the HBO Video graphic and go straight to the DVD menu, the problem described in the OP happens. When I let it play, the problem does not happen. I have never seen this shit happen before. It's fucking hilarious.
