I have become very frustrated with dishonest software that claim one thing and do another. For example recently my PC was infected by some adaware toolbar when a flash video recorder software was being installed. It is not always reliable to depend on antivirus tools or be always vigilant. Sometimes you have to run software that you can not 100 % trust. So I have decided to take the step of running such suspect programs in a virtual machine. There whatever harm they may try will remain restricted to the sandbox. Unfortunately I am very ignorant about what virtual machines are beyond a very layman idea that they do exist.
Can someone kindly help point out a virtual machine tool that is preferably free and would run on a Vista Home Premiun computer with merely 1 GB of ram an AMD Turion x64 CPU ?

Not with just 1 gb of ram. Some might work, but running it is going to slow both operating systems to a crawl. If you want to try it, VirtualBox is widely regarded as one of the best. If you want something more simple, Microsoft Virtual PC will work on Vista Home Premium after throwing up some error messages you can ignore. (or you may have to set compatibility to XP pro, I keep getting different answers about that).Sarevok wrote:I have become very frustrated with dishonest software that claim one thing and do another. And anyway, I thought you lived in one of those countries were you can walk down to the marketplace and pick up a cd that has really high-end professional grade software on it for $5?
