Replacement LED for computer power indicator

Post by Davey »

I made the mistake of plugging the power indicator light into the wrong jack when I was setting up my PC, and the little LED burned out. Fortunately, I know where to get LEDs at relatively cheap prices in bulk, but I need to get the right type. Can anyone tell me what the voltage and current on those little LEDs is?

I have no idea as to the amperage, but the voltage should be 3.3V.

I'd be interested on where to get bulk LEDs other than Ebay for various electronics projects...

Mendelson's Liquidation Outlet Online Store. I've been to the store (living in Dayton and all), and it is rather large.

Well, online, you could try Mouser or Digikey. These two are pretty big names for buying electronics online.

Try Radio Shack or if you're really cheap, just find someone's junked PC and strip the LED and wiring out.

You can get a two pack for like a dollar. Not that big a deal. :) Just make sure you get the polarity right, otherwise it won't light up.
