Someone's done a screencap comparison
I can't wait for this. I've only ever played a bit of GoW2 at a friends, and Chains of Olympus on PSP (which was awesome, finished it) - but I can't wait to get a chance to play the original and GoW2 on PS3. And before GoW3 comes out, as well!

...They're pimping a graphics update who's only discernible difference is "slightly brighter?" Pass please, thanks.

They've also increased the resolution a fair bit. PS2 games generally tend to look like crap on HDTVs anyway, so this is a nice improvement if you have a big screen set. I might wind up getting this since I never got around to finishing GoW 2 on the PS2.Joviwan wrote:...They're pimping a graphics update who's only discernible difference is "slightly brighter?" If you can't tell the difference in quality, you need glasses. And the graphics update is a bonus, merely getting the chance to play GOW1&2 on the PS3 (for those who don't own a PS2, like me) is the point.Joviwan wrote:...They're pimping a graphics update who's only discernible difference is "slightly brighter?" I already have corrective vision, I was merely pointing out that the visual difference in those screenshots was laughably negligible. That the resolution is being upgraded to current definition standards was unclear to me even after viewing the screenshots in question, though it does help make the case for the game. I can see this being a boon to people without a PS2 and with HDTV's, though, so I'll retract the snippy one-liner.

The PS3 collection's screenshots have the black borders removed, which is generally a pretty good indication they've boosted the resolution.Joviwan wrote:I already have corrective vision, I was merely pointing out that the visual difference in those screenshots was laughably negligible. After only looking at the first two sets of pictures I was going to agree with you, but if you look further down there are some pictures that make quite a difference.Joviwan wrote:I already have corrective vision, I was merely pointing out that the visual difference in those screenshots was laughably negligible.
