Is ArmA: Combat Operations any good? It's on sale for $6.79 usd right now, and I'm not familiar with the series save for some vague browsing of past ArmA threads that didn't really give a sense of the game's worth.

Ford Prefect: Maybe there can be a twist ending where Vlad shows up for the one on one duel, only to discover that Sun Tzu ignored it and burnt all his crops.

Yeah it probably is, but IMHO you'd be better off skipping to ArmA2.

Less than $7 is a great price. According to Bohemia Interactive, 1.17 (or 1.18)* is the last ArmA patch. Just make sure to follow the instructions when patching... oh, and if ArmA 2 drops in price, jump on it. :D

* The Steam thread on the patch quoted the CEO of BIS as saying it would be 1.17, but the BIS screen name later referred to "RC release of final patch 1.18 for ARMA : Armed Assault."

Friends of mine who where huge Hearts of Iron 2 where not happy with Hearts of Iron 3 and specifically highlighted the DLC as being highly expensive. Like the Street Fighter IV DLC which consisted of 5$ for pallet swapped uniforms which took maybe twenty minutes to do all of them. Hearts of Iron 3 has a similar issue with sprites. They have however come down in price as they hit Steam at 4$ each. At .99$ it's five bucks for all of them and I suppose it's tolerable.

Current deals are up, the only things are note are Portal (5$ if you don't own it... BUY IT) , Mass effect (If you never got it, it's worth 5$) and the real deal of the day. Sam and Max the complete first two seasons for 14.99$. It's worth it if you enjoy any of the old school adventure games. They are short about two hour episodes and both seasons are six games long. It's a steal at that price even if the seasons themselves are hit or miss.

Ask Shep, he got it. I seem to recall howls of disgust.

Is anyone else having problems with doing Friends adding, i.e. problems with inviting, or being unable to gift a game to someone who hasn't accepted a Friend invite?

I'm getting completely different prices- those games are listed at full cost for me.

Prices are 24 hours only. The sale ended today in fact.

The rest of the recommendations in this thread were still discounted- the sale was through the third. I guess those were different.

Hope this isn't a necro, but is there any way that I can flag a Steam game so as to be notified when there's a deal on it? (When DOES Steam do deals anyway?)

I dont think theres an automatic way to do it, but deals are normally advertised along with new releases in the steam news popups that come up when you're running steam. Deals normally happen either midweek for one day on wednesday or for the weekend.
Apparently nobody can see you without a signature.

They have one sale every weekend plus random sales depending on when the publishers want to put a game on sale. Plus Black Friday, plus the now famous end of year sale.
