Yes, and that point was hanging on the assumption that, since you don't play many games except on airplanes, nobody else does. It doesn't matter if you don't understand why they do it or if you can't think of a situation where you would want to play serious portable games, you have to at least accept the fact that a whole lot of people play serious portable games all the fucking time. Are you really going to pretend this isn't true?

And what are you basing that number on? The fact that you don't use a spread of apps on a regular basis? You're entire point seems to be that you don't care for the particular features that the huge appstore offers, so those features shouldn't matter to anyone else.

I just pointed out examples of useful things that simply cannot be done as well, or at all, on any other phone. How many examples do you need? Oh, right, you'll ignore any example unless you think that you would personally find it useful. Well, there are some apps that claim to be able to improve a persons IQ...

Hell no, I'm just saying that "serious portable game players" are going to own seperate portable game consoles anyway.

Not to everyone else, no. People still use the phone primarily to communicate, with Apps following at a distant second.(specifically, non-social media apps). When people DO download apps they tend to use them only once or twice then ignore them later on. So it's asinine for that to be the big driver of a smartphone, especially when the main selling point of the iPhone Appstore by now seems to be "have a lot mroe redundant apps than the other smartphone OSs".

Congrats on missing my point, again. The Apps you listed have counterparts on other smartphone OSs, just that they don't have 30 different versions of those apps. Yee-ha. At least my life is now complete that I can choose from 20 different sleep cycle monitoring apps instead of 3.

So limiting your choice of apps, even though they may be "different versions" is...better? That, for me, would suck. I had to go through, for example, 4 different netflix-type apps before settling on the one that worked the best for me. I used a couple different apps for when I'm at the gym, before settling on iFitness. I'm not even sure any other app store carries the Blizzard Authenticator (free), so I can kiss logging in to WoW goodbye. Wouldn't be able to play Words with Friends with all my scrabble addicted friends, since it's only in apple's app store. Plus, if I had another device with a different app store, I'd never be able to transfer the ones I use for reading ebooks (eg, Stanza) to the iPad that I'll be getting.
