Trade Wars 2002 - I might start a semi-private Game Server..

Post by Solauren »

Hello Everyone.

Back in the day, I used to play Trade Wars on the old pre-internet bbs's. (Yes, I'm that old and that big a geek).

I recently played it again on a friends Telnet bbs, and was re-hooked.

Long story short - I want to start one up of my own. Unfortunately, I'm having 2 problems

#1 - The one person I know with a version of Windows with Telnet can't get it to connect. I can connect to it via Telnet, but he can't. Anyone want to help with that?

#2 - I'd need players. Anyone interested? It would be a passworded game, so anyone interested, message me here, and I'll give you the info to connect and log in.
I've been asked why I still follow a few of the people I know on Facebook with 'interesting political habits and view points'.

It's so when they comment on or approve of something, I know what pages to block/what not to vote for.

Unfortunately, Lord requires a front end host program. I was thinking just set Trade Wars up on my dummy station and let it run. However, LORD is temping.

I might have to cast 'Resurrect on Telnet' on my old BBS now.....

That's a shame, I rememeber the halcyon days of fighting to stay awake until midnight to be the first one to call the local BBS sos I could take my turns on LORD. Sometimes, i'd time it so I used up my turns, log out, then call right back to get my next day's turns (and also Jennie Garth)....Oh, the shitfests that were started at school over connection campers....

I'm interested, though I have no idea how to play and would probably die horribly after doing something stupid.

Oh god, do they still have those Tradewars helper programs still available? Gimme that and I'll have my Imperial Starship in a week. Or more. But still.
