Guys, let's not be so hard on him just because he's a robot. Robots are great, I mean just think of how much manual labor we could force him to do! Or if he's durable enough we could send him to the front lines!

Re: Let's Play the Megacampaign
Easy up on the robot there Sirs, he does have some valid points, as a miltiary power we can't yet compete with everyone and throw our weight around as much as we might like, so getting allied with people or attempting to gain more terratory and resources through non-open warfare means might be viable at this stage.
This odyssey, this, exodus. Do we journey toward the promised land, or into the valley of the kings? Three decades ago I envisioned a new future for our species, and now that we are on the brink of realizing my dream, I feel only solitude, and regret. Has my entire life's work been a fool's crusade? Have I led my people into this desert, only to die?

There's a faint whirring as the machine thinks about this.
"Oh. Oh, wow. I mean, can I get autographs? LARPing's cool enough, but you guys are the real thing! Not that the, er, Irish guys aren't but they're, you know, not exactly... up to date. Anywho!"
It starts offering the notebook to various persons near it, including a slightly bewildered retainer.

Kursk looks at the notebook as if the robot just asked him to do a chicken dance. Then, after a moments consideratio, he signs it. Maybe it'll shut it up.
"Anyway, it may be right. I think we should avoid open warfare for the time being. It has brought us two major rebellions in the last few decades. We should solidify our position and build up our forces, perhaps try making allies on the continent. Hopefully we can get the damn English distracted with a nasty little war."

Jack, still in his bathrobe, and feeling a bit like Arthur Dent, looked at the map again.
"So, if I understand correctly, the Brits have control of our treasury, so that's our main priority. We'll need to set up some sort redundant way of making money, and at the same time, get the money back."
He examined the map. "What about those ships south of us. Are they ours? Could we use them to try and retake the British forces in Ireland?"

Re: Let's Play the Megacampaign
All right then. A couple of things before my final pre-vacation update in the morning:
1. It appears the consensus is to increase our cashflow and play the diplomancy game. I personally think it's great that we're finally beggining to treat this as something other than Total War, if that's true- this series has far better diplomancy, a far vaster scale, and allies can be much more useful. After all, allies we make now could easily stay allies for nine hundred years. Assuming they don't become provinces of the Empire, of course.
2. A few miscommunications, I guess, Fax- the war is already over, so we don't need to get the British forces out of Ireland, since those ships are their giant-ass army leaving to go off and beat the shit out of some other poor bastard. Our cashflow is currently fine, all they did was empty the treasury at the time. It's refilling just fine now. Goddamn Brits, ripped off nearly two hundred gold...
3. I shall attempt to create more opportunities for RPing characters like this. Hmm... Ideas... Ok, I have one for when I'm back, since I'll need the game open for it. As it happens, our king has two daughters, both currently too young to marry. I'm thinking... we are a reasonable-size kingdom. A lot of other kingdoms that like us would send at the very least some high-ranking Duke, or their heir, to attend. Sound worth doing?

Hm. I think I learned my lesson from England, so our revenge can wait. Perhaps we could try to secure an alliance with the Holy Roman Empire? We could certainly use their support. Diplomatic relations with the various Italian cities could also be useful.
And as said, our treasury could use a little filling. We can't have enough gold.

Uh... Remember General Schatten saying the HRE tends to explode early on? It's been dead for decades. Sorry. I'll try for some other mainland powerhouse...

Re: Let's Play the Megacampaign
Ah. Hm. Well that's certainly different from the history I remember. Any chance we could see a map of mainland Europe so we know who's a major player?

Right. The update will include maps of the mainland, and income upgrades. Also the diplomancy game.

Well shit. Packing took longer than expected, then the flight was earlier than I'd thought... damnit. Well, next update in a couple weeks then.

From my experience, the game tends to think otherwise. If you've got even a reasonable amount it decides it's time to take it all away from you, so something inconvenient happens to suck your coffers dry.The Vortex Empire wrote: And as said, our treasury could use a little filling. Re: Let's Play the Megacampaign
Eh. In one LP of it I read the Kingdom of Jerusalem, which was the player, had around 30,000 gold. Guess nothing could be bad enough to burn that much all at once.

I'm back! Give me a little bit and I'll post the first new update. Here's hoping the diplomancy is actually useful...
