Spore re-installation- will it work?

Post by Iroscato »

One year after witnessing my laptop perform a magnificent quadruple somersault down some stairs, I finally got my shit together and got a new PC (free from college- result!).
Now, I have a problem. I know very little about how PC games work. Once I find my beloved copy of Spore in the nuclear wasteland that is my room, will it be worthless? I know registration codes only work once for PC games, but I already have a Spore account that I made using my lappy, so by that logic, it should bypass the problem.

So, will my copy of Spore work 100%, including online play and DLC, even though it's been installed before?
(Disclaimer) I have a few other PC games, but Spore was the only one I really took to on this particular platform, so don't be thinking I'm obsessed ;)

Spore allows 3 installs per copy so you’re fine. Even if you have exceeded that you can likely get it activated by going through customer support but your millage my vary with that rout depending on if you can prove your the original purchaser.

Well, my dear old mum bought it for me off of Amazon, it was brand new, so will it show up on her account, and would this be enough to prove its kosher purchase?

Not a clue, that would depend on whatever policies they have in place at EA, I'd imagine their more interested in the game serial code. Its quite an old game by now so they would probably just give you another installation right if you have used up your three.

I could answer this with 'because I play whatever damn game I want', but I'm not that much of an arsehole, so I'll simply say I find it quite a good game, plus the creator mode was pretty good.

I might respect you if you had. Instead I pity you for playing a horrible 3 year old game.

Hmm, I don't really require the respect of a guy I don't even know and will never meet, and it's not 'horrible' by any means, no masterpiece but I happen to quite like it.

You're right, it's a horrible tech demo, not a game at all.

I'm surprised you care enough to even send instructions to your fingers to type this. Sad, really.
