Divinity II: TDKS
So, as my Xbox won't read discs any more, I am stuck with downloadable games for a minute.
Is this game any good? I read that this version has all the DLC, and a reworked engine that makes the game better.
Can someone elaborate on this?
What games on 360 does this compare to?

Before your idiotic mouths start driveling out shit about the PC version, using a keyboard, game being better with mods... use the brain you believe that you have.

It's 106 miles to Chicago, we got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark... and we're wearing sunglasses.

Aaron or Los played it I think; they liked it. I played the demo (for either D2 or D2:DLC) and it was really slow and boring, but it was just the tutorial.

Look man, I liked the scanning in Mass Effect 2. Slow and boring I can do.

I never actually saw any combat, just 25m of talking to boring people, so I don't know how that goes. Brandon has a pile of achievements for it though, so it can't be too bad.

Got it, played it, finished it.
It's okay, actually. A little stiff in the controls, and the disconnect between dragon mode and walking mode sucks your mom, but other than that, not bad. I more or less gave up on delicacy and looting at the end in favour of "slaughter my way as efficiently as possible in the direction of the ending), when the game's idea of challenge morphed into 'more everything'. And you have all of the DLC, so the ending won't piss you off (the basic ending pisses you off, since the plot goes unresolved until - I think - one of the standalone expansion packs).

Realized that I didn't answer part of the goddamn question though. It's a highly linear Oblivion. Third person sword hacking, magic, loot, exploring, questing. Also you are a dragon at will, which is awesome until your enemies learn how to counter you being an immortal flying siege engine. Of course, the first part of the game after you get the dragon form kicks ass, because you are an immortal flying siege engine and your enemies are small and flammable.

I ended up flying into an 'anti dragon zone' right away. Ow.
"Highly linear Oblivion" is a good way to put it, I couldn't help but think the same, myself. -Everything- is voice acted, and voice acted well, and npcs will have conversations with each other that they repeat, though the linearity of the game makes it not nearly as bad as Oblivion. And a lot of things are thought of. "I wonder if I can go back and taunt him after damning him to eternal torment... hey!"
The plot is obscenely forced. Individual quests have a lot of different ways to solve them, however.
There's no modding functionality in the game, so basically all the PC version gets you is more bugs. For me it likes to stick its thumb up its ass for a good minute or two before ever playing a video. Which is supremely annoying for skills.

Have they fixed the idiotic inventory system yet ? [*] For me, it was the thing that that killed an otherwise good game (after having played Oblivion, I can say that the combat system in Divinity 2 felt waaaay better). But then TBH I didn't even get to the part where you could transform into a friggin' dragon (My computer died on me 2 years ago, and I haven't got the courage to start a new game since then...).
[*] : Basically, as far as I progressed into the game (first 4-5 hours of gameplay), there wasn't any option to drop an item from your inventory without losing it forever. You couldn't use the chests you found ingame to store your items in ; and when you sold things to merchants, the items you sold wouldn't appear later in their selection of items-for-sale, or on their dead body after you killed them. TL;DR : all items dropped from inventory or sold = lost forever. It was especially infuriating since the inventory is sooo small, and there's a weight limit stacked on top of it for good measure, if my memory serves me correctly.
[VG Critic] Game : 0/10, ruined forever. [/VG Critic]

Once you get the ability to transform into a dragon, you can send stuff to your tower, which has 400 slots available. I don't know if DKS added it or not, but yes, I found it to be pretty lame, too.

Re: Divinity II: TDKS
I won't say the game is an action packed, adrenalie fueled thrillride through the pits of hell, but it is pretty fun once you get past the tutorial. You're going to have to play for a while to become a demi-dragon, though. Think it took me about 6 hours to get that far.
There's some crafting stuff but you get henchmen who you can tell to just go pick up ingredients so it isn't a pain. You get to build a creature of of monster parts.
Anyway, I don't know if I'd ever describe the voice acting as "good" but it is acceptable. I'd download the demo and give it a shot because it's a difficult game to just say "go buy it." How much is it to download?

Is it a laser problem? How much does microsoft charge for a full refurb?
Just sent my Wii in for repairs, full refurb costs $85, apparently it doesn't like being played in 10+ hour marathons., though the Gamecube can go multiple 30hr+ for years w/out a single hiccup.
Guess the claims it's not for hardcore gamers is right.
I've toyed w/ getting a Xbox hueg 360, but can't really afford it, plus all the DLC costs an arm & leg too. When you get it fixed, you think you'll try Goldeneye? The Wii version is pretty fun & the PS360 variant has tons more content, though the hackers will ruin the online features even faster than the Wii version.

Demo downloaded. It's free. I like it so far.
The only thing that bugs me is that all the NPCs seem to be from Italy, as they move their heads and hands so much when they talk, it cracks me up

My dads half-italian (meaning I'm 1/4) & we do that a lot. I try not to, but it like happens on reflex. Though I only do it about half as often as him.Havok wrote:Demo downloaded. It's free. I like it so far.

Has anyone figured out why we do that? Is there a benefit to communication that can be directly measured?
So it's an rpg, then. I prefer those to most game types. (don't get me started on bullet hell types )
I've heard much about an rpg called skyrim, but it's on EVERYTHING but the Wii, thus costing it several million sales. Not a healthy business practice

1) Italian cultural behaviour, you are free to ask about in an OT thread if you wish.ComradeClaus wrote:My dads half-italian (meaning I'm 1/4) & we do that a lot. 2) Skyrim isn't on the Wii almost certainly because of technical limitations.
