Hey everyone,
So I just purchased a replacement AC adpator for my HP G60 laptop. While installing, I made the mistake of trying to pull the product key sticker off the cable leading from the outlet to the adaptor. I ended up with a mess of adhesive residue down the cable and over my hands.
But as I've plugged it in now, do I need to worry about the now-exposed adhesive residue getting hot.
The cable feels cool, so I don't think so. And I never took it off my previous adaptaor cable -- though granted, the sticker itself may have served as an insulator. As I freely admit I'm not an expert on computers and value a second opinion.

I believe you are overreacting about the adhesive. If you don't want to deal with the sticky stuff, then wash it off with warm water and soap. Of course, don't have the thing plugged in when cleaning.

You shouldn't have to worry about it, but if you really want to take it off get something like goo-gone. But given your hypochondria tendencies I'm not sure if goo-gone will make it better or worse.
