So having a tablet read it natively is less of a problem now. Thanks for those who gave me advice. I guess its now just a matter of whether a small screen is adequate, and value for money if I go for a bigger screen.
It was no problem.
Do you have any friends who own a tablet. If so, ask them to let you view a comic on it.
Well I settled for the Asus eepad. It seems to play music ok, but I haven't tried any video files yet. However since its mainly used as a glorified e-reader, with perfect viewer the images look good. Because it had a larger screen size than a Nexus or Nook, there is rarely any need to adjust the comic images. Perfect Viewer doesn't seem as good with PDF files for novels. However its got Polaris Office built in and allows me to read it fine, even though reading novels is most probably not its original function, but whatever works is my view.
The reason I went with the Asus, it was cheaper than some of the competitors. Also came with a docking board, but the main use of the docking board I find was to make it easier to transfer my personal files via the USB port.

It cost around $573 AUD. An equivalent Galaxy tab with equal storage cost around $100 more.
The OS is Ice Cream Sandwich.
