Buzz Aldrin's Space Program Manager announced

Post by Scottish Ninja »

And I hesitate to reduce it to the status of a 'spiritual successor' to BARIS because it really does have Buzz Aldrin's name on it.

It kinda sounds like it won't be competitive at all but perhaps I'm either wrong or they'll add it in later, given that they plan to expand the game with further missions to Mars and so on. It comes out in June. I'm psyched :D

Even though I wasn't on SDN when BARIS or Team LAME were going on, Scottish Ninja enjoyed (read was always) telling me of his exploits and the crazy stuff that occurred. I'd love to see another LP off of this even if there was no competitive mode built in. Maybe two companies founded by the descendents of characters in BARIS duking it out to claim juicy government contacts and ownership of Mars.

You have no idea how happy I am to read that ;)

I am reserving judgement on this game until I can check out the demo: frankly, BARIS had lots of faults, and it looks like they are keeping the same basic structure intact for this game, with a graphical tuneup and perhaps a reshuffle of the interface.

Although, of course, if they keep the same basic structure...then it means it will retain the same "perfect for playing via forum" quality :D

Pezook, if you decide to start another BARIS game, I want to join in. I was reading the BARIS thread and wished that I had joined in.

I wouldn't mind a game that merges BASPM (BARIS) and KSP. Start out with a crappy satelite and rocket with low reliability and research to improve and unlock better components. Then you purchase the needed components and build your rocket. Afterwards, you could either choose to let the game fly the rocket or pilot it yourself. :)

The more you research the more components you have available to purchase and assemble. Choose your crew (trained or not) and fly your craft.

What I don't like in BASPM is the lack of competition between nations. I'd rather they allow other nations to compete. First being the U.S. and USSR and then later other nations like India and China would start their own agencies to compete against the giants. :)

If the game still has the hilarious system to calculate reliability (ie, one that if applied to the real world, the history of space program would be a long trail of explosions and corpses), I would guess that the game will still be easy to play on a forum.

If we did that, it might be a bit off for me to play again, but I'd be eager for another go...

I would certainly be up for it. I can continue rubber stamping planning space missions for Murca!
Baltar: "I don't want to miss a moment of the last Battlestar's destruction!"
Centurion: "Sir, I really think you should look at the other Battlestar."
Baltar: "What are you babbling about other...it's impossible!"
Centurion: "No. It is a Battlestar."

Corrax Entry 7:17: So you walk eternally through the shadow realms, standing against evil where all others falter. May your thirst for retribution never quench, may the blood on your sword never dry, and may we never need you again.
