I want to sell my old computer as I rather have money in my pocket than let the computer waste away in the basement. The thing is, I don't know how much it is worth. Here's the specs.
Ultra Chassis (Black) (Missing the gate but unless you knew before hand, you wouldn't notice it.) Overall it is in excellent shape.
ABIT KN9 Motherboard
AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 4600+ (2.4GHz)
3GB of RAM
GeForce 9500 GT
500W PSU
I removed the hard drives but they'll be sold separately or bundled with the chassis.
Maxtor 300GB IDE
Samsung 250GB SATA
Seagate 320GB SATA
They're all in great shape and I removed, cleaned and returned to the chassis (sans HDDs of course), so it is all clean.
How much can I realistically expect to get from it?
What would be the value of my old computer?

Important question are you selling the system with any sort of operating system?
Right now the most I'd give you for it as is... maybe 150$ That's being generous, the problem is if anything fails it will instantly cost twice as much as the entire computer to replace it.

No OS. HDDs are wiped clean.

You might get a better deal selling the individual parts.

Got some details wrong and forgot to add a couple of things. The motherboard is actually a MSI N1996. Also the computer has a floppy drive and a Lite-on DVDRW.

Re: What would be the value of my old computer?
The problem is that today any computer system you buy and use becomes obsolete very quickly, and anyone with half a brain is not going to waste their money on it if they can buy a brand new and better system.
Your best bet would be to follow Zaune's advice and sell the components individually. You'll have a much better chance of selling it off then, as there are plenty of people who would be more inclined to buy cheap used components rather than a whole used and cheap system.
If you have your own computer system and build it yourself (which is what I do), simply upgrade the parts as needed and sell the replaced parts individually ASAP.

I've built the computer I'm using now because I wanted all new parts. I just want to get rid of the old computer.Singular Intellect wrote:The problem is that today any computer system you buy and use becomes obsolete very quickly, and anyone with half a brain is not going to waste their money on it if they can buy a brand new and better system.

I'll probably piece them out if I can't sell it whole.

Just part it out
You'll get more from the bare chassis and individual parts than from the combined whole
All the components as installed actually drag down the chassis value, a likely purchaser is more inclined to need a home for a new mainboard than live with your obsolete model. As far as your mainboard, by itself a likely purchaser would be looking for a cheap replacement for one they burned out and they have no need for chassis and opticals.
Very, very few people want a whole used PC. Separately each component has a larger market demographic and you more likely to get the prices you want.
