MUDs'r the ultimate games in my opinion. They don't use graphics, so they can't become outdated. They require you to visualize your own view of the world, not someone else's, so they also promote the imagination. Of course, nice graphics are never a bad thing.

I was Lodas. In MUDs, I am almost always a character named "Lodas." Once I was "Sadol." I'm on the aforementioned MUME MUD now, again as Lodas and a Dwarf named Khizil. I haven't been on lately there, though. Since I've gotten Freelancer I've been frequenting the multiplayer servers as "ThomasInFlames."

I've played too many MUDs and MUSHs to list. Among ones I spent a significant amount of time on were Valhalla, Mirkwood, Carrion Fields, and most recently Aetolia: The Midnight Age.
