We all have them. Post some of the ideas you've had that you would like to see made into a game.

Alien Force

Basic Concept: Squad-based FPS in a Sci-Fi universe. Or in short, a cross between Ghost Recon and Unreal.

Extrapolation: Similar to America's Army, you would start by creating a number of soldiers of various races. You would take them through training, or go straight to the story with pre-set or randomized squads.

But it would be more than just GR with laser guns. You would also be able to do things like hack into security systems to disable them, or if good enough, to take them over and turn them against your enemies, or break into and hotwire vehicles, from military hardware to civillian cars and trucks, to use in your mission, or to extract yourself.

Multiplayer, aside from the usual CTF, Deathmatch, Rescue, or other missions, can also be played in two modes: Either with each player as a squad member, or commanding their own squads against each other.

Canal Wars - like most other racing games, only conducted at 4 knots and taking upto 4 weeks in real time to complete a single circuit, armed with various weapons and able to mine the locks, kill the tourists, blow up moorings etc etc...

But really? I want someone to remake the War of the Worlds computer game, but with more atmosphere, better gameplay and improved graphics, I want a game where as soon as a goliath fighting machine rolls out of the night, unless you have a plan up your sleeve, its run like buggery or burn. I want the scale that the musical version and the book captured, with human unit views, and enormous martian units. Might have to be only a single player game, but it could be done so well...

I envision a genre-defining title, the ground-breaking creator of the TAMOG - Totally Awesome Massively Online Game.

RPGs have been done poorly/to death, so I'd make something different. Expand the basic mechanics of game like NukeZone, for instance. Every player starts by creating a small domain, not even large enough to be considered a city-state. Obviously, there would be a finite amount of land so a "multiple-shard" system would be necessary, perhaps with different game modes. Some could be very basic strategy and number-crunching while being straightforward, and at the other end of the spectrum have a deeper, more complex server with more options for political intrigue, staff management, and civil/domestic leadership duties to boot. It should be based on a fictional world of continents resembling earth with a pseudo-modern tech level, a la C&C. Very Totally Awesome.

Hm, something that would be totally amazing to play...it would blend three engines together...with options to employ each on its own or overall as part of the one game.

I envisage it as a star wars game, it would work something like this....

The highest level of the game would be a galaxy spanning strategy mode. Here you would have resource managment, politcal schemes and research all blended together....something like a bastard combination of MoO2, Pax Imperia and Rebellion/Supremacy.

The next level would be when fleet engagements occur, here a modified version of the XWA engine would be used. You would view the battle from a designated command ship, able to direct the battle from the various displays issuing orders to the fleet and able to see it from a nice 3d representation of a bridge viewport.

Final level would be a squad based first person shooter. It would be used for commando raids on enemy facilites or when taking a planet by landing troops. There would be certain sorts of objectives that would offer bonuses like seizing resarch facilites before the defender can destroy them. This would take a sort of JK2 meets C&C Renegade style form. It would have to be very much optional for a multiplayer mode but would be able to add so much more intrest to a single player mode.

Let me first just say that Keevan and Jedi's ideas make me want to cream my pants.

Space Station Tycoon, sort of. Kind of like Railroad tycoon, but with some RPG and strategy elements. Basically, you're the CEO of a far-future corporation, mainly involved in construction. The FTL is realspace but is very fuel-intensive and can only take you on a straight line when it's active, which means very well-defined trade routes. Your stations would vary between simple deep-space refueling stations and the market for big commercial hubs. Half the game is politics, though. There'd be a full-fleshed out galaxy with different races and plenty of political entities and all of them have valuable resources and technologies that people want, and most importantly, contracts for you.

These aren't just static empires, though. They'll go to war and your biggest stations suddenly become targets. You can have contracts to allow military forces on one or more of your stations, which keeps them protected from pirates and other such annoyances, but also may cause you to lose business with opposing empires and lose valuable contracts. The governments would also have a big influence on how you do business in their territory. Some will have bans on valuable commodities like narcotics and military-grade weapons (you'll have to set a policy on how strict you want to be in enforcing this, though. Black markets can reap huge cash, but if you're caught...), or tax the hell out of your profits, or nationalize your business in their sector and only pay you for the construction. Once you're powerful enough, you can even start to have a bit of influence on that government's decision-making, too. Anywhere from a very vocal lobbying group to having a powerful senator/council or Party member in your pocket. This will help things like lower tariffs, legalize certain cash cow products, tax breaks and all kind of fun things. It goes without saying you'll have plenty of competition.

You'll choose lots of different attributes for your CEO, kind of like Tropico. You can also choose what species they are, which can give some inherent advantages or disadvantages, but is mainly important in determining which empires trust you at the start and which don't. Doing clean, honest and, most importantly, profitable business will make most empires like you, but having good relations from the start doesn't hurt. Also, some civs are very xenophobic and probably won't even let you in their borders if you're not their race. Naturally, all of these business-hostile enironments will have valuable (and often unique) commodites that you'll try to get your grubby mitts on.

The time settings will be variable, and the march of progress goes on. You can have the time where space really is a frontier and you're sewing the seeds of all interstellar travel and carving out the first trade routes, to the time where you'll need special extra-system stations to accomodate the huge superfreighters that aren't allowed in solar systems because they tend to block sunlight and play with tides.

The most ridiculously adrenaline-pumping, fast-paced FPS ever.

I don't know if this will turn out to be a good idea or not, but make a 3D FPS where everyone fights in gigantic maps with huge wide-open spaces. Each player can jump real high, and from time to time move really fast. With an upgrade or powerup, the player can fly as well.

Weapons would range from machine guns, to lightsabres, missile launchers, napalm launchers, guided missiles, MIRV launchers, flak guns, beam cannons, sniper cannons, particle cannons, and maybe even a mini-nuke launcher.

Basically, each player dashes or flies around the map at high speeds, unleashing enormous amounts of weaponry at each other, dodging all the shrapnel, napalm, MIRV missiles, and such.

An added feature would be the ability to affect the landscape. Launch a MIRV at an opponent on the ground and you create a huge group of small blackened craters. Fire a nuke, and you make one big one. Also, all explosive weapons create shockwaves, buffeting things such as nearby players, dirt, trees, or whatever. If the map is an indoor map, you can blow huge chunks out of the ceiling and hope they fall on your opponent. Your opponent, on the other hand, can aim a really powerful weapon upwards and blow away the debris before it hits him.

Of course, Capture the Flag, and a whole bunch of other multiplayer modes are a necessity.

I intend this game to be multi-player only, with bots for single player.

Have any of you played Bid for Power, the DBZ mod for Quake 3? Imagine that, but with higher speeds, and crazier weaponry.

Just imagine you zipping across a wide landscape, the ground parting behind you due to your passing, creating a sort of dirt "wave" behind you as you fly over grasslands, mountains....then launch a couple of MIRVs then finish up with a guided missile.

And watch as the MIRVs vaporize a portion of the forest. Your opponent dashes toward a nearby mountain. The other MIRVs hit that, atomizing the mountain. Then the guided missile hits him, plowing him through one mountain before finally exploding and taking out more acres of forests.

Sounds like a completely unrestrained mass destruction wankfest, but hey. I think it'll be really fun

I have no less than 14 game designs. I might consider posting a few summaries of some of them soon (I've mentioned 2-3 before over the months, and I've got a long one to put up in its own thread sometime soon).

But that's just me. I prefer to post long summaries, but I'll sum up a few for now with:

-Post-WW3 FPS/Adventure game
-Massive-scale space RPG/simulation game (been mentioned; imagine 1500 star systems with hundreds of job fields ranging from taxi driving to piracy to coroprate ownership).
-3 RPGs (one MMORPG)
-2 Monkey Island-style adventure games
-1 racing game and 1 fighting game
-3rd-person tactical squad-based game Last Dawn Rising (this will be posted in a few days, and it will be very long and detailed).
-1 fututre/fantasy Role-playing Strategy game (been mentioned. Humans fight for survival among demonic remnants of a ten thousand year-old invasion, and a race of Talmudic machines. 'Nuff said. )

Time Travel Combato 2000

FPS where you pick your weapons and then go back in time to a battle of old. Up to ancient battles if you want. Note, weapons are NOT limited to ones used at the time.

God

Sim game where you are...God. Lord over your peoples, punish the heretics, commit atrocities and make them praise you for it, and fight against the Devil's influence on your Chosen Ones! Oh, and fight against other dieties with your minions (I advise compulsory sex among your followers).

Surrendercon: The Art of Flight

You are in charge of an army and you must retreat as fast as possible with minimal casualties. While running thousands of your men up to the enemy and mass-surrendering them sounds like an exploit, remember that the enemy will likely murder such a huge formation.

Age of Empires .2

You're a man-ape. There are other man-apes around a berry bush. You want berries. SIMBA!

Window Pain

You're Windows ME. Need I say more?

I envision a FPS/RPG hybrid, very much like the Matrix online, or Deus Ex. Newbies can only run around with whatever guns they want, while true vets can use the bullet time, super strength, stealth, or whatever other abilities they have chosen. Players gain experience by their play time or kills.

End Days

A sci-fi vampire Squad based real time FPS

You pick your team from 4 classes: Melee, Trooper, heavy and Faithful. You then proceed to kick vampire ass acrossed massive levels such as rundown hospitals, schools, sewers, ETC. As your team levels, new weapons and sub-classes open up such as Swordsmen, Riflemen, Rocket man and Messenger as well as story info about what the vampires are, it eventually turning out to be humanoid insects wearing daed skins as people suits. Multiplayer is possible and turns the game into something like Hunter: The Reckoning.

Star Wars: Imperator.

Space sim with fully working capital ships. Support for either large teams(Each person grabbing a turret or so), or just the ability to give commands to AI(Designating a group of fighters as the target, etc). Singleplayer would be pretty openended from what I fleshed out on paper, but that's on paper, not on disk.

And, of course, online multiplayer mode where crews go up against each other. The ISD SD.net vs. the Mon Cal Cruiser ASVS, maybe.

I would want a FPS based roughly on Evilution. However, the enemies would adapt to your attacks as time goes by. So the first few levels, you are easily shooting down various critters, but in the later levels, they are dodging, firing, and using different combinations to kill you.

So if you use advanced tactics in the first few levels, the later ones turn into nightmares as they know your tactics and adapt to them. But if a newbie plays the game the first time, they could actually get farther, as they are developing tactics as they go along.

Another option would be a modification of the Amazons & Aliens game (or Alien Nations - its original name). Essentially, you start off playing the Sajkhi (Zerg equivalent), and can use either the pre-designed critters, or you can develop your own designs. After you use each new design, you develop combat tactics for it. Later on, you play another race, and when you fight the Sajkhi, the AI is using your designs and tactics against you.

Even more fun, if you go online, your computer will upoad your designs, and download the latest designs and tactics for the various races. So if you join the game late, and download all the latest in enemies, you will get stomped.

Various difficulty levels can be used (never adapt, use only local designs, use all designs) to give newbies a chance.

Shinova's idea sounds awesome. I'd get a huge rush from that :D

Mine would probably have to wait for VR... It would involve directing entire wars, down to taking control of an individual unit (As in FPS style) to do your bidding. Then there would be designing your own unit types, setting your faction's strategy from small-squad tactics to entire fleet maneuvers.

I had this idea once. It involved not one, but TWO Italian brothers who were plumbers. They had to run through this drug world, getting über highs off of mushrooms and 'flowers' while you run around and kick the crap out turtles. Then you save Shroom people from castles and shit, and at the end you fight a meglo dragon and save this princess.

LoL.

Naw, I've always had ideas. I'm a friggin artist for crying out loud. LoL. I've had ideas for 2D fighters, 2D side scrollers (this one just about became a reality), in fact, I had thoughts about a game like BF1942 and RS III a while back. I remember that coming from playing Alliance and the mission where the shuttles are ferrying Bothan spies to the planet surface trying to fly through the atmosphere to get them. that would have been cool. In regards to 1942 same deal in a way. You run around jump in your vehicle and stuff like that. In fact I believe RS III allows you to fly from planet side to orbit. heh. i'll post more later.

A realistic FPS-ish/RTS sim, based on David Drake's Hammer's Slammers. You can choose to either play on Simple mode, in which you can choose to go FPS-ish at the front-line or directing the forces from bird's eye view, or Simulation mode in which you do both at the same time (based on Rainbow Six type mission planning, then shortcut key commands and perhaps even voice command to change plan while on the go).

Multiplayer would basically be an extension of the above with more human controlled units.

While all that does sounds very similar to the Battlezone games, the point of this is that the game is suppose to be realistic, or at least true to Hammer's Slammers universe... 170 tonnes of iridium ground effect Supertank! Yay! Blowing things up! Woo-Hoo! Meanest bunch of mercs who've ever killed for a dollar! Let's Rock!

I want to do a pulp/noir style 3rd person Shooter/Superhero thing. You are the dreadded black clad gang buster, of some unknown city, you have a Sexy Lesbian Chuffer to drive you to the various places in the city, you have tommy guns, 45 pistols, Shotguns, 38 revolvers, BARs and anything else from the 1930's period. Star Wars: The Emperor's Hand

It's a cross between Splinter Cell, Armored Core and Jedi Knight. You play one of the Emperor's Force-Trained elite, whose job is to infiltrate Rebel cells, assasinate Senators and uncover conspiracies. You can use such weapons as the Xerrol Nightsinger and flechette launchers to take out your opponents, disguise yourself and 'persuade' guards that you're the real deal using force powers. You can plant evidence and earn kudos by giong beyond the call of duty. In between missions you can dabble in Imperial court politics, earn force powers in the training courts and lightsabre your way up the chain of command.

Age of Empires: The remake-Basically the original game mixed with Aok, AoM, EE, and Cossacks. Remove Minoa and replace with Huns, Germans, and Indians.

Dinosaur RTS: An RTS with a Mesozoic theme with Jurassic Parkish concept(clone dinosaurs). The periods would range from Permian to Cretaceus. The X-pack (why not?) would feature Centozoic beasties(Smilodon, Arsinotherium, Moropus, Ambleodon, etc.)

I've been tossing these ideas around and imagining their gameplay.
I've also been hoping for a Godzilla game for the PC (I HATE searching for ROMs)
