Is this the one those recruiters hand out?

I think my friend has it...it has to be done over multiplayer according to him.

After trying for an hour to try and get the damn thing to work, I decided it was worth about as much as most projects my tax dollars go to.

It worked fine for me from the start, though it was pretty demanding of my computers specifications, but then everything is. The training is single player but it's basically a multiplayer only game.

As for the cost, the US government spends more money on toilet paper for its offices then the six million USD the game cost to develop.

They should do an "Iraq's Army" mod.

That'd be interesting 8)

There was a mock thing about that several months ago in US PCGamer. Pretty funny.

"In this training exercise, Iraqi troops practice surrendering."

As with most free software, it's got its bugs and limitations.

The single-player is rather strict about what kind of actions you are required to take to perform each task.

Not to mention that my multiplayer registration failed to properly work. Go download Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory for free and save yourself a headache.

You'd have 2 teams, conscripts and the Republican Guard. The conscripts have to use stealth style play to get back to their homes and families without being busted and beaten up/killed while the Republican Guard have to keep the conscripts in check.

Then you have the 3rd group. AI American soldiers who stumble about shooting at everyone with everything they've got while singing the "Star Spangled Banner". Conscripts can avoid being attacked by the Americans by use of the "self-deprication" button which makes your character sing "Star Spangled Banner" hideously off-key while waving a white flag to the American forces. Unfortunately this "self-depricating" option makes you an easy target for the Republican Guard. The Americans also have the deadly "propaganda" attack that will result in your team suddenly finding itself sitting on a couch being harassed by a trailer trash wife, drinking a bud (while spilling some on your wife-beater) and watching re-runs of Diff'rent Strokes. This area effect weapon not only turns the conscripts into terrified bundles of flesh, but invigorates the American Forces reminding them of what they are fighting for. The Republican Guard ignore this weapon, but occassionally one will be found to be susceptible and will be shot by team-mates.

The Republican Guard suffer from their own problems. Anyone with a score of less than 10 points at the end of a round is permanently booted and sent to the conscript team and if a team scores less than 50 points in total then they must then fight off an angry Saddam armed with two chainguns. It should be noted that this is of course, not the real Saddam, but one of his many impersonators, who will keep popping up and coming at you until you are dead, dead, dead. The Republican Guard also have the distinct disadvantage of at the beginning of each round having their team-leader offered a suitcase full of hard currency and a plane-ticket to a non-extradition treaty country. Should the RG leader accept, their team forfeits the round and are placed in "forced exposure" to the propaganda weapons.

There are rumours of an expansion pack for Iraq's Army that will let you play as the armies of the Zionist Occupational Government, and we'll keep you up to date on them.

Iraq's Army is due out in Q4 2003.
