Deus Ex: SWEET!

Post by Thirdfain »

I have this copy of Deus Ex which I just got to work, and it's GREAT. I am at the big tanker level, at the naval base, and it is mad fun.

Anyone else played Deus Ex?

Anyone else have any advice as to what augs I should go for? I am a stealth char, with rifles and melee weapons.

I played it heavily, about three years ago when it was still new…

I don't buy new games. First, they don't work on my hardware. Second, 50$ is too expensive. I'll only buy when <20$

I think thats a good way to go. I relish finding a fun game for cheap. Software stores dont seem to have bargin bins like they did a few years ago. Mabye shelf space is getting to expensive.

It is indeed a freaking awesome game. I'm going to try it on a harder difficulty after I beat it. I'm almost done with the final level right now...

I paid $20 a year or two ago, just as the GOTY edition was coming out. When my brother built a new computer, another copy came bundled with the GeForce4 Ti4600 that he put in. This was probably the first game that I purchased based solely off of my experience with the demo; it had more interaction than any FPS I'd played before, and having to sneak was a new experience (not having played Thief).

I usually go for speed and defense. The speed boost aug for the legs is especially useful, as it lets you fall longer distances without taking damage; that's saved me more times than I can count. Power Recirculator is your friend, especially if you use defensive measures like Ballistic Shield and Energy Shield (though I usually opt for a cloak instead of the energy shield, since so few enemies use energy weapons). Healing usually rounds out my "must have" augs list.

I had a lot of fun with this game, and am looking forward to Deus Ex 2's coming release.

I am fucking GOD with the sniper rifle. I am now master, so one shot, one kill. Furthermore, two shots from my shotgun will take down a normal enemy (or two bursts of three bullets from the AR), and using SABOT shells, it only takes seven to take down a miltary drone.

And if they fire back... so what? Level three ballistic shield and offensive defense shield own them.

The best thing I liked about this game is the multiple ways you are allowed to pass a dangerous arera. In one area, remote machine guns lined a hallway. I lobbed a few metal crates in front of them and casually walked on by as they fired into the crates!

I fucking LOVE this game.

I regulary fire it up (hardest lev only).

BTW the stealth pistol rawks.

Measly damage but with a scope 2 hs will down just about anyone :D

Only thing that bugs me is that I allways pickup knifes. crowbars and junk like that there should be an option to never pick up that crap.

Deus Ex is a freaking awesome game, the possibilities available to you is amazing. I used to replay that game over and over just to see what else I can do with the toys you can get. IMO assoult rifle with silencer and stabilizer mod kick ass.

I love Deus Ex. I still play it regularily and even after 3 years i'm still findig new things in the game. My only ever gripe with the game was the limited character voices. The weapons where awsome though i with there where unique weapons to specific countries ie the poilice in France should have a slightly different model of pistol than the americans etc.

Stealth Character? Thats always fun. I found the best Aug is regeneration, followed closely by the Speed Aug.

Being able to run insanely fast and jump from street to about the 4th floor is just brilliant.

I played through Deus Ex a whole buncha times. The last time I went through it, I kept saving and reloading just so I could do EVERYTHING just right. I believe I went through the whole game without being hit once by an enemy.

Played it once through. Totally kick-ass, but I haven't ever gotten around to playing it a 2nd time through past Hell's Kitchen. Saw all 3 endings, at least.

Yeah, the endings were pretty tame. Oh well. GETTING there is worth it in and of itself.

Got my copy for free with my motherboard. :D Unfortunately, it was a Shuttle motherboard, which was probably responsible for Deus Ex causing my internet to not connect to my computer(I could dial up and connect, but my computer wouldn't recognize that it was connected). I got about a level or two before the end. Never finished it. Would someone who did finish it mind PMing me a brief summary of the ending?

They might have improved them over the past 3-4 years. I do remember a Jane's USAF flight simulator game I bought had a specific 'Does not work with Shuttle motherboards' warning in the manual.
