A certain song in Homeworld

Post by FaxModem1 »

In the Return to Kharak mission, the background music is tight, but what song is that. I've heard it there. On Red Dwarf, and on one episode of the Simpsons, all when tragedy strikes. Does anybody know the song?

Adagio for Strings, op.11 by Samuel Barber. This piece is commonly used for state funerals.

BTW, when on The Simpsons did it appear? I don't think I've heard an episode with that in it.

It's like saying ' on the assumption you have prerequisite a) met...you can then go on to b) '

And eh, I'm sure there's a way you can get the music from it...but I'll be damned if I can remember how

The Game of the year edition was supposed to come with a bonus CD. In this CD was a Preview of Cataclysm, the 1.5 patch and almost the entire musical score of Homeworld.

I believe that was the CD Coaan was talking about.

The Simpsons episode was "Strong Arms of the Ma" I think, it's a good episode, but the scene where they use it is bloody funny :) but I'm not going to spoil it.

The GOTY edition of Homeworld included the bonus CD. Otherwise, you can try and extract the AIFR audio file from one of Homeword's packed datasets. Relic has a plugin for Winamp to play it in.

(They chose AIFF with some extensions because that format has some useful features that WAV and AU do not).

What happens in the episode?

Well, I assume noones going to kill me for telling you...

Marge gets mugged, and is too afraid to go out, so she works out and beats up the mugger, then meets an old friend who's taking steroids, and begins to take them as well, eventually she has more muscles than your average pier, and is having fights and generally becoming more masculine whilst Homer goes towards the more feminine, it all ends with Marge having a mass fight in Moe's Bar with everyone except Homer, Disco Stu's and the posse get creamed, and Marge is left standing there with Adagio for Strings playing and holding Lenny aloft. It's a fantastic spectacle, well worth seeing. Although it doesnt quite beat the Moody Blue episode IMO... :)

The song is on the Homeworld Music CD. I always remembered it as the song from Halo, even though I love it in all roles.
